General News – applies to all three phases

Courtney International Day

Our ever-popular Courtney International Day event shall take place on Saturday 16th September 2017. South Africa celebrates National Heritage Day on 24th September and this international event aims to celebrate our diverse cultural heritage which is truly evident at our school. Families have received information and forms whereby they can ‘reserve’ a table or two to promote their cultural heritage with a display of traditional food, clothing, artefacts and posters/information about their country of origin.

The Family Ticket of R 250-00 per family covers entry to the event. One family ticket may be purchased but it is unlimited to the number of family members and friends accompanying. Please extend the invitation to grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, neighbours and family-friends. There shall also be entertainment for the children and it is always a fun-filled day for families to get together and share their beautiful cultures and nationalities.  Parents and children can dress in their national costumes or traditional wear on the day.

Please return the forms if you are going to participate in either the “Showcase my Country” by presenting a table or two about your country of origin or cultural background so that we are aware of how many countries will be represented and arrangements can be made.

The “Market Stall” tickets are ONLY for those who want to have a flea-market type stall at the event and sell items. These are R 350-00 each.

Tickets are now available from the school offices. Please retain your ticket and bring it with to the event. There will also be a lucky draw on the day based on the number of your ticket.

French Literature

We were recently presented with a magnificent collection of French Literature and Story Books for children. Our French teachers shall be making good use of these books and we have started a mini French Library. Our sincere thanks is extended to The French Institute in Johannesburg for the generous gift.

Relocations

Parents are reminded that a term’s notice is required if they need to withdraw their child from Courtney. Families who are relocating due to a change of diplomatic posting are encouraged to inform the office as soon as possible. Some classes have waiting lists and we would like to plan our class lists for 2018.

Website Showcase

We invite parents and students alike to go to www.courtney.co.za and view the ‘classroom showcase’ in each phase. Updated information and visuals about the different events or interesting projects pertaining to your child are posted from time to time. Have a look and enjoy!
