Moonstone Masquerade Stage Production for children in Grades 000 – Grade 6 shall be staged at the Atterbury Theatre on the evenings of Friday 7th and Saturday 8th December 2018. A reminder that full day stage rehearsals take place on 5th and 6th December 2018.

Courtney Kids News – applies to children in Tiny Tots, Grades 000 and 00

School Photographs

All children to please attend school on Thursday 25 October. Children must arrive at school no later than 08:00. A professional school photographer shall be coming to take school photos at the primary school campus. Children are to be dressed neatly for their photo.

Mobile Zoo Visit

On Tuesday 6 November, the Mobile Zoo will visit the pre-school. During this visit, children will view and interact with a variety of small animals.

Moonstone Masquerade

Dew Drop Photography shall be responsible for the stage production photos which include individual, group and stage photos. Parents are asked to complete the order forms and make the payment of R 200 per child by Friday 23 November 2018.

Timeless Visual Entertainment shall be responsible for the DVD of the stage production. Parents are asked to complete the order form and make the payment of R 300 per DVD ordered by Friday 23 November 2018.

Thank you to those parents who have already made payments. We appreciate the sacrifices you may be making to cover all these extra costs.

Full day stage rehearsals at the Atterbury Theatre take place on Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th December. Transport is provided, for the children, to and from the theatre on these days. Parents are not allowed to watch these rehearsals.

Parents are reminded that children will perform on both evenings and must be available for both performances on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th December. These performances start at 18:30 and will end around 21:30. Children are expected to be dropped off at the theatre by 16:30 and collected once the performance has ended and children have been changed.

Children who are not participating in the stage production, will not have school on Wednesday 5th, Thursday 6th and Friday 7th December 2018.

There is no school for stage production participants on Friday 7th December.

Cambridge Primary Checkpoints

The Grade 6 students have completed their Cambridge International Examinations. Thank you to Teachers Anthea and Demi for all the effort and dedication in preparing these students. Thank you, too, to the parents who helped to provide extra studying support and assistance at home. We wish our Grade 6’s the very best and await their results which should arrive between 8 and 16 January 2019.

Normal school resumes as of Monday 22 October for the Grade 6 students.

Cycle Test Results

Thank you to the parents of children in Grade 3 to 5 who came to collect these results from the school office on Friday.

School Photographs

A professional school photographer shall be coming to take school photos on Thursday 25 October during the school morning. The photos shall be taken at the primary school campus. Children are to be dressed neatly for their photo, wearing their Courtney House uniform.

All children will have photos taken on this day. Once all photos have been taken, parents will receive an order form with information about payment details and how to order the photos should they want them. The package includes a variety of photo sizes and is R 70 – 00 per child.

Parent-Teacher Meetings

All teachers will be available on Wednesday 31 October and Wednesday 7 November between 14:30 and 17:00 for parents who would like to schedule short progress feedback meetings to discuss your child’s progress. Appointment times can be scheduled through Thelma at the school office.

Student of the Week

Each week, a child from each class is identified as “Student of the Week” for showing excellence or great progress in various areas. The children are awarded badges at line-up. Congratulations to the children who received badges last week for “Most progress in reading/reading lab”. This week, the award is for “Most Responsible Student”.

Leadership-Adventure Camp 2019

Information packs containing details and forms for the leadership-adventure camp for 2019 have been handed out. Parents, who would like their children (Grade 3-6) to attend the camp at Ingwe in Plettenburg Bay and to explore the Knysna area, are requested to kindly fill out and return the forms as well as make the payment as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. The deadline for payment is Friday 2 November 2018. Many parents have already submitted forms and made payment, thank you. Only 50 children can be accommodated on this trip. Extra police security will be arranged to accompany the group through OR Tambo airport on both departure and return. Children, who do not attend camp, will have school as usual during that time.

Courtney College News – applies to students in Year 7 to A/AS-Level

Examinations

Our Checkpoint 2018 group have completed their Cambridge Examinations on Friday. We would like to thank each teacher for their effort and valuable input throughout the year and wish the students the very best as we await their results to be released in January 2019.

On Friday 26 October, the Checkpoint 2018 group will have an event in celebration of the completion of their Checkpoint year. Invitations were sent out recently and we wish them and their teachers joining the event a wonderful evening before they return to the College on Monday 28 October for the introduction to their IGCSE course.

The Checkpoint 2019 and AS/A-Level 2019 students’ internal mock examinations will finish this coming Wednesday, 24 October. They will return to the College on Monday 28 October with the continuation of the second year of their specific course.
