General News – applies to all three phases

Welcome Wishes

Compliments of the season to all our families and best wishes for a magnificent 2019 academic year.

School Return

All students return to school on Wednesday 16 January 2019 for the start of Term 1. We look forward to welcoming our students back after the summer holiday and are also thrilled to extend a very warm welcome to the many new local and international students who shall start the year with us.

Moonstone Masquerade

Congratulations to all the performers (Grade 000 to Grade 6) who made us all so very proud at The Atterbury Theatre on 7 and 8 December 2018. Every child shone on the stage and performed their assigned roles with enthusiasm, confidence and enjoyment. Congratulations to all the teachers and staff for their efforts and dedication and thank you to the College teachers for their assistance in the dressing rooms and backstage too.

Thank you, too, to the parents for their support and for all the many wonderful compliments and messages of congratulations received throughout the holiday period. You can be very proud of your talented children.

Text books shall be handed out as soon as they have been received from the suppliers. All books should have arrived by mid-February. Parents who have still not settled payments for text books are requested to do so urgently.

Stationery

Deans, the stationery suppliers, have delivered most stationery packs which were ordered and paid for in December 2018. Parents who have still not ordered stationery or finalised these payments are requested to do so urgently.

Children are to bring all their stationery supplies to school on Wednesday. All exercise and writing books are to be neatly covered in paper and plastic. All stationery is to be clearly marked with the child’s name and surname.

School Uniform

A new uniform supplier for manufacturing (Wendy’s Promotions) and sales (Grant) has officially been sourced. Courtney House uniform items for summer shall be available for order and immediate purchase by the end of February 2019. Purchasing will take place directly at school for parents’ convenience.

Due to the factories and manufacturers having closed down in December, this is the earliest time that stock shall be ready. Children may, however, wear any plain navy clothing or whatever they have until stock has arrived.

The results from the Cambridge International Examinations for the Primary Checkpoints which the Grade 6 students wrote in October, shall only be available around 15 January 2019. Parents shall be informed once we have received these results.

Leadership-Adventure Camp 2019

Extra police security will be arranged to accompany the group through OR Tambo airport on both departure and return. Children, who do not attend camp, will have school as usual during that time. Thank you to parents who have already made payments.

There are still a few vacancies available for this camp which is of great educational and personal-development value to the children. Parents who are still interested in their child’s participation are asked to submit forms and payment urgently. The camp takes place from Monday 18 February until Saturday 23 February.
