General News – applies to all three phases

School Rule

We would like to remind all children and students, as well as the parents, of the school rule: “We do not hurt others with words or actions”. Any form of behaviour which contravenes this rule, in any manner or form, shall be taken seriously.

Reading

No amount of stress on the importance of reading for school and academic success is enough!

Parents are encouraged to motivate their children to read a wide variety of material (books, magazines, reports, fiction, non-fiction, religious-spiritual books, news reports and any other interesting things around the house such as recipes, instruction manuals, adverts and food boxes/containers/wrappers) to gain a wider vocabulary-usage as well as build on general knowledge and writing skills. Children and students are asked to read a lot more but also read with insight, focus and greater awareness of the choice of words and writing techniques used.

The children thoroughly enjoyed all the activities planned for this special day. Well done to all the children who really went to a huge amount of effort in dressing up as their favourite storybook character, the costumes were amazing. Each class prepared a re-enactment of a famous story or fairy tale. The senior children presented little plays on the different children’s rights and their associated responsibilities.

Congratulations to Leago Mogorosi (Grade 3) for winning the Junior Best Dressed Category and to Austin Wallick (Grade 6) for winning the Senior Best Dressed Category. The children received book vouchers from Exclusive Books.Thank you to Teachers Estelle and Cyd from Courtney College who judged the competition.

Grade 4 to 6 children had an opportunity to march to the College Campus displaying their Children’s Rights Posters and participate in their own “protest march”.

Thank you to all the teachers for the extra effort they awarded the preparation of everything. It was a successful learning experience filled with lots of fun and laughs.
