Courtney House News – applies to children in Reception Year to Year 6
Screen Time and Screen Addiction
Parents are urged to be more aware of the dangers of excessive screen time (use of cell phones, tablets, electronic screen games and laptops) and what is currently known as “screen addiction”. We request that parents check their child’s phone and control exactly what material is being viewed through social media, YouTube and online games. The use of cell phones and “screen-time” must be monitored, limited and controlled by parents.
Many children are exposed to and engage in playing online games which are age-restricted and illegal. Parents need to be aware of the serious consequences of such exposure to a child’s overall mental health development. Aspects of violence, aggression, inappropriate sexual content and social misconduct often make up a large portion of these games and expose the children to a lot more than they should be exposed to and/or are emotionally and psychologically ready to handle.
At the primary campus, there is a ‘no electronics at school’ policy, however, parents are urged and strongly appealed to, to control and monitor what their children are exposed to at home during the afternoons and over weekends/holidays.
Presentation on Ancient Egypt and Dress Up
A History Presentation on Ancient Egypt by Mighty Minds will take place on Monday 8 April. Children are invited to dress up as Ancient Egyptians on this day and are cordially invited to attend the Pharoah’s Banquet Feast. Prizes shall be awarded for the best dressed Ancient Egyptians.
