Waiting Lists and Relocations
A number of children are currently on waiting lists for most Grades. We therefore, request that families who know they will be relocating or changing schools, inform us as soon as possible so that we are able to make plans for children on waiting lists.
Also, a reminder that families are contractually bound to provide a full term’s notice should they be withdrawing their child.
National Days for International Students
We invite all our international students and children to dress up in their National Costume or National Dress on the day of their country’s National Day. We have such a vibrant and wonderful diversity of cultures at our school, which we are proud of and would like to appreciate.
School Policies and Codes of Conduct
We would like to remind all parents of the school policies and codes of conduct currently in place at the campuses and that we have a ‘no-tolerance’ approach to any students who contravene these policies or involve themselves in any misconduct at school or during school hours, including school outings, fun days, camps and socials etc. Disciplinary steps will be taken should this be necessary and certain behaviours will have serious consequences.
Public Holiday in June
There is no school on Monday 17 June due to the public holiday (bank holiday) on 16 June which is Youth Day.
Please keep Saturday 14 September 2019 open for the ever-popular Courtney House International Day event. This is a lovely, family day of fun whereby families can represent and showcase their countries of origin with a stall of traditional food, clothing, accessories etc. More details to follow soon.

Stage Production 2020
Dates have been confirmed for 9 – 12 December 2020, with evening performances on 11 and 12 December 2020. This involves all children at the primary campus. The Stage Production takes place at The Atterbury Theatre.

Reception Year 2020 Meeting

Deadline Approaching for Reservations for Leadership Adventure Camp 2020 in Cape Town
Closing date for reservations and initial payment is Friday 31 May 2019. Parents are asked to please get forms and payments in. This applies to students who will be in Grade 3 to 7 in 2020. The camp takes place from Sunday 23 February till Friday 28 February 2020. Thank you to those parents who have already submitted forms and made payments.
Children in Grade 3 to 6 will write their mid-year exams in all subjects from Tuesday 18 June until Wednesday 26 June. Exam timetables as well as Exam Scopes have been handed out. We request that parents assist their child with establishing quiet and purposeful study time (away from electronics, TV and other distractions) and good study techniques in preparation for the exams.
Children in Grade 3 to 6 shall not receive written homework from Friday 31 May so as to prepare effectively for their mid-year examinations.
Boy Talk and Girl Talk
Boy Talk (presented by Johan from Courtney College) and Girl Talk (presented by Teacher Demi) has been scheduled for Grade 5 and 6 students on Friday 31 May during the school morning.
Meeting for Parents of Grade 5 and 6 Students
Parents of children who are currently in Grade 5 and 6 are requested to attend a meeting on Wednesday 5 June at 17:15 at the primary campus. Teachers Cara and Demi shall be informing parents of the procedures and policies concerning the transition over to the College Campus as of January 2020. We ask that parents do their best to attend this meeting.
“The Bully Mystery”, a presentation on anti-bullying techniques, has been organised for children in Reception Year to Grade 6 on Thursday 13 June during the school morning.
On the day of their birthday, children may wear civvies (ordinary clothes of their choice) to school. Should their birthday fall over a weekend, they may wear civvies on the Monday.
School Lunch Packs
We are pleased to announce that the lunch packs provided by Eat et cetera have been a huge hit with the children. Please contact the school office should you require more information in terms of ordering the lunch packs.

Grant shall be available at the primary campus on Monday and Friday mornings between 07:15 and 08:30 for any parents who may have questions or queries about uniform items.
The Mini Science Lab Presentation
All children in Reception Year to Grade 6 shall participate in ‘The Mini Science Lab’ on Friday 16 August whereby a variety of Science concepts shall be presented and demonstrated as experiments.
Student of the Week
Each week, a child from each class is identified as ‘Student of the Week’ for showing excellence or great progress in various areas. The children are awarded badges at line-up. There is a display near the school office where the children who receive badges are acknowledged.
Congratulations to the students who received badges last week for ‘Most Progress Overall’.
This week’s award is for ‘Most Creative English Fiction Writer or Storyteller’.

A few students have indicated that they would like a basketball team at the College. Students should give their names to Teacher Linda if they would like to join in Term 3.
College Leadership/Team Building Camp for 2020 in Cape Town
We are excited to announce that the leadership and teambuilding camp for Grade 8 to IGCSE students of 2020 shall take place from Sunday 5 April to Friday 10 April 2020. The College students will attend a camp at the same venue as the primary students in Cape Town. Information packs and indemnity forms as well as reservation details shall be made available to students.
Please take note that 16 June is Youth Day in South Africa and since it falls on a Sunday, our schools are closed for the public holiday on Monday 17 June.
This also gives our students who are writing tests during Test Week, the ideal opportunity to make full use of the long weekend to study as Test Week takes place from 18 June until 28 June. The 28th June is also the last day of term.
The following Grades will write during Test Week: Checkpoint 2020, IGCSE 2020 and AS/A-Level 2020.
The rest of the Grades such as Checkpoint 2019, IGCSE 2019 and AS/A-Level 2019 will continue with class as normal. These students are in their Cambridge Examination Year and will, therefore, write mock exams in term three.
