Our Approach

At Courtney House, we encompass the principles necessary to uncover optimal potential. These principles are fundamental to our teaching approach and have been designed to fully include our belief that to achieve optimal learning we must all belong to a learning environment, which adopts the principle of lifelong learning. We embrace EQ Development and the teaching strategies, which have been introduced by way of "The Cognitive Connection" for each individual at Courtney House "to become the best they can be."

EQ Development

We believe in developing Emotional Intelligence so that each child will be empowered to effectively deal with life's daily demands. This is a process, which varies in the length of time it takes each individual to develop their skills. Both children & adults usually need to work on these skills to achieve balance and function optimally.

There are four areas, which we try to develop, namely:

  1. Intra Personal skills: particularly to become self aware and manage your actions
  2. Inter Personal Skills: particularly to develop empathy, collaboration skills and meaningful relationships
  3. Stress Management: to strengthen tolerance and impulse control
  4. Adaptability: to become objective, flexible & good at problem solving (divergent thought)
