Our policy is based on the ever increasing research that strongly indicates that nutrition impacts significantly on our mood, and the ability to learn and build memory. Fizzy cool drinks, cakes and sweets are not favourable and cause erratic glucose levels; highs and lows are experienced. High levels are characterised by extreme energy followed by extreme lows characterised by irritability, and lethargy. Mood swings are prevalent and affect learning, socialisation and behaviour.
Each classroom is equipped with a filtered water dispenser as regular hydration of the body and brain through drinking water is encouraged.
We request that you adhere to this policy, with a bite size treat, allowed on Fridays. We thank the parents who support this endeavour as it makes a marked difference to our learning environment.
A safe and secure environment is of utmost priority. The smaller, more personal environment ensures more efficient supervision and safety of our children. We have a strict policy of signing out for the children in our care by the designated adult. You are required to notify us of any changes to the collection of your child via sms. We will not allow a child to leave with any person unless we have been notified of the change. We further stipulate that whilst in our care all children will be properly supervised. Senior students from Grade 8 may sign themselves out after an indemnity form has been signed by the guardian/s
"We do not hurt others with words or actions" - Adherence is expected
We do not condone teasing or bullying.
We have a programme; "Tips to Topple Teasing", which is structured to give the children advice on what to do if they are teased. As well as striving to develop each child's self control as part of the EQ programme.
Unfortunately, teasing and bullying is on the increase around the world, due in part to the increasing role of the media, combined with the diminishing role of the family unit. We cannot stress enough, the importance of curtailing both the amount and the content of what your child is exposed to in the media, including computer access, play station games etc.. as few of the programmes role model tolerance or self control.
