We wish all our families a safe and wonderful holiday and look forward to seeing everyone back again for the start of Term 3 on Monday 24th July.
Contracts and Policy Documents for 2018
All current students received envelopes containing the tuition contract and policy documents, applicable to their phase, for the 2018 academic year. Parents are asked to sign and return these contracts and documents by no later than Friday 4th August 2017, if they wish to secure their child’s place for 2018. Thank you to those parents who have already done so.

The Courtney House Stage Production at the Atterbury Theatre to be staged on 7th and 8th December 2018.
Public Holidays Coming Up
There will be no school on Wednesday 9th August as it is National Woman’s Day, a Public Holiday.
There will be no school on Monday 25th September as it is Heritage Day, a South African Public Holiday (Bank Holiday).

Courtney Kids News – applies to children in Grades 000 and 00
Reports will be handed out on Monday 31 July and Tuesday 1 August. Parents are welcome to meet with the teacher from 13:00 to 17:00 on these days if they wish to discuss their child’s progress.
Extra Mural Activities
Extra Mural Activities will resume during the second week of the third term. All new extra mural information will be sent out during the first week of next term.

Congratulations to the Quiz Champions
Congratulations to the children in the Blue Topaz Team for winning the Quizmaster’s Quiz which was held on Wednesday28th June. Well done to the Yellow Diamonds Team for coming in at second place and Green Emeralds Team for placing third.
Visit to Austin Roberts Bird Sanctuary
This was an informative experience which was thoroughly enjoyed by the children and the teachers. Various bird species were spotted as well as a duiker, bunnies, antelope and even a great big tortoise. A special word of thanks to Zippy, Jeannet, Christina, Cynthia, Pietie, Robert, Elliot and Thomas who helped with supervision and security to ensure the children and teachers were safe. The highlight of the nature walk had to be the play-park which was enjoyed by all.
Student of the Week
Each week, a child from each class is identified as “Student of the Week” for showing excellence or great progress in various areas. Congratulations to the children who received their badges last week for “Most Talented Art Student”.
Children participating in the Science Olympiad on Tuesday 1st August have been issued some study material to prepare effectively. They are also encouraged to spend some time during these holidays reading a wide variety of Science related material with particular emphasis on weather; weather patterns; the water cycle; cloud formations and types; rocks and rock formations; animal classification systems; states of matter and forces.
Except for ballet, all other extra mural activities for Term 3 will commence from Monday 31st July. There will also be some new and exciting additions to our current extra mural programme. Schedules will be handed out to children during the first week of the new term.
Mid-Year Academic Progress Reports
Mid-Year academic reports will be available for collection from the school office on Tuesday 8th August.
Children in the Yellow Diamonds Team must start preparing for their entrepreneur’s day on Thursday 3rd August.
Winter Holiday Pony Day-Camps
The Mount Riviere Stables in Pretoria East is holding holiday day-camps during the July School Holidays. During these holiday programmes, children will learn about horses and how to take care of horses and there will also be games, painting ponies, riding lessons and outrides. The programmes run from 9:00 till 13:00 at a cost of R 200 per child. Children must take their own packed lunch. For children who stay later than 13:00, the cost is R 50 per child per hour. Winter Holiday Club – L’Vaya Mzansi Road Trip
Children have received little flyers about this holiday programme, which some of the Courtney Children attended last year. This winter holiday programme will run from 3rd July – 7th July 2017 at the Brooklyn Methodist Church in Murray Street, Pretoria, from 08:00 till 13:00 each day. UNO Championship Winner
