Educational Visit to Gold Reef City

On Wednesday 16 August, the senior students of Courtney College set off for an excursion to Gold Reef City museum and amusement park. The aim of the trip was firstly educational but also gave the students some opportunities to enjoy the thrill evoking rides. They received a mining hat and a torch and were taken into the historic mine by a tour guide. The aim of the tour was to see what a gold mine looks like underground and how mining has developed over the last century.  The tour guides explained how the Gold Reef was discovered and the historical and political influences it had on the country. After completing the tour the students also had the opportunity to explore the rest of the park and enjoy the expressions of their classmates on the amusement park rides. The students thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Thank you to each parent, student and teacher who made this trip possible.
