Courtney Kids News – applies to children in Grades 000 and 00
Reception Year Text Books for 2018
Parents of children in Grade 00 are reminded to place their orders for the Cambridge Text Books for Reception Year. The orders and payments must be received by no later than Friday 10 November 2017. Thank you to those parents who have already done so.
Swimming
Class swimming will start on Tuesday 10th October.

Primary Checkpoint Examinations
We wish our Year 6 students all the best as they begin their external international examinations on Monday 9 October. These students will only receive their results and certificates from Cambridge sometime around the 15th of December.
Swimming Season
The swimming season will start with class swimming on 10 October. Plain, navy-blue swimwear is to be worn. The girls’ one-piece, full swimming costume and the boys’ swim-jammers can easily be purchased from local retail stores in the school uniform departments. The navy-blue Courtney House swim-caps are available from Amy, the uniform supplier.
A swimming gala is being organised for later this year, sometime between 23rd November and 6th December, whereby parents will be invited to watch. As soon as details have been finalised, parents will be informed.
The following classes will have swimming on the following days:
Tuesdays Grades 4, 5 and 6
Wednesdays Reception Year and Grades 1, 2 and 3
Extra Murals for Term 4
Term 4 extra mural activities will start during the week of 16th October and will continue until the end of November. Children will receive their extra mural schedules during the week.
Classical Music Concert
Teacher Polina’s piano students will be playing in a music concert at the Brooklyn Theatre on Saturday 14 October 2017 from 11:00 in the morning. The music concert involves music students of various ages from different schools as well as the Russian Embassy in Pretoria. Tickets can be purchased at the door on the day of the event. Instruments to be played include piano, violin and Oboe. It is a formal event. The children taking part are to be dressed in formal wear, hair to be tied up and out of the face.
Text Book Orders for 2018
Parents have received the text book order forms for 2018. Completed order forms and payment is due by no later than 10 November 2017.
Ingwe Adventure Camp
We thank the parents for making the first payments for camp by 5 October.
Entrepreneur’s Days Coming Up
To accommodate examinations, both external and internal, the following dates for entrepreneur’s day now apply:

Science Fair
Children in Grade 2 to 6 may participate in a Science Fair to be held on Tuesday 28th November during the school morning. Children will receive more information and details in the new term.
End-of-Year Examinations
Children in Grade 3 to 6 will write their final examinations between 8th and 22nd November.
Prize Giving Ceremony
A Prize Giving Ceremony for children in Reception Year to Grade 6 will take place on Tuesday 5th December starting at around 17:30.
Final Academic Reports
Parents can collect the final academic reports from the school office on Thursday 7th December between 07:30 and 16:00.

Cambridge International Examinations
Examinations have already begun. Please take note of the details:
The following Cambridge external exams will take place:
Grade 8 Checkpoint: 9-20 October. These students return to school for IGCSE 2019 on Monday 30 October.
IGCSE 2017 and AS/A 2017: Some papers start on 2 October and the last paper is on 16 November.
IGCSE students return to school on 17 January 2018 to start AS/A 2019.
The following internal exams will take place:
Grade 7: Revision classes will take place during the first week of school, 9-13 October. Exams will take place 16-27 October.
These students return to school for Grade 8 on Monday 30 October.
IGCSE 2018: 9-27 October. These students return to school Monday 30 October to continue IGCSE 2018.
AS/A 2018: 9-27 October. These students return to school Monday 30 October to continue AS/A 2018.
