The Sound of Music
Congratulations to Rebecca Wallick on her outstanding performance on Friday evening! We are extremely proud of our little Rebecca and once again, congratulate her parents on her marvellous success.
Children thoroughly enjoyed the visit to The Teatro Theatre at Monte Casino and it was a wonderful experience for the group to congratulate Rebecca after the show. This was a magnificent occasion which was enjoyed by all. Thank you to the following teachers for taking the Courtney group and looking after them during the visit: Demi; Melodie; Natasha; Claire; Danielle and Anthea. Thank you to the parents for being on time to collect their children and for making the event possible.
First Cycle Progress Reports
First Cycle Academic Reports for children in Reception Year to Grade 6 will be available for collection from the school office on Thursday 26 April 2018, just before the long weekend. There are three reporting cycles in the year: April; August and December.
The Excalibur Experience
Children in Grade 3 to 6 will attend this History Presentation at the Tshwane Children’s Theatre in Irene during the school morning on 9th May. Information and indemnity forms were handed out on Friday. Please ensure that forms, together with payment, are returned by no later than Thursday 3 May. Children must wear civvies but are encouraged to dress up in medieval attire or wear medieval-type accessories to the outing. They will also enjoy a medieval banquet feast at the presentation.
Every Friday there is a tuck shop sale whereby children can buy snacks and sweet treats. We have started to introduce “vetkoek” as it is too cold to sell ice cream. Proceeds from tuck shop sales benefit the Courtney House Stage Production which shall take place at the Atterbury Theatre in December 2018.
The last Art Theme was based on “Leaf Art” whereby children had to incorporate the beautiful colours of Autumn leaves in an array of different techniques to create an art piece. The new art theme has encouraged children to study the life and background of French artist Henri Rousseau through ‘Henri Rousseau’s Fantasy Jungle’. Children’s completed art is displayed on the walls around their classrooms. Parents are always welcome to come in and view their art.
Student of the Week
Each week, a child from each class is identified as “Student of the Week” for showing excellence or great progress in various areas. The children are awarded badges at line-up. Congratulations to the children who received awards for “Most Helpful” student. This week, the award is for “Best Performer at Mathematics”
