Welcome Back

We welcome all families to the start of Term 3, which begins on Monday 16 July, and we trust that everyone had a refreshing and wonderful holiday.

New Families

A number of new local and international children will start this term. We wish these families a memorable and productive time with us.

Long Weekend in August

There is no school on Thursday 9 August and Friday 10 August 2018. The 9th of August is celebrated as National Women’s Day which is a Public Holiday (Bank Holiday) in South Africa. School will resume on Monday 13 August.

Courtney Kids News – applies to children in Tiny Tots, Grades 000 and 00

Weekly Tuck Shop

A small tuck shop will be available to the children at Courtney Kids every Friday. Proceeds will be used towards the stage production. Parents are reminded to not exceed R10 per week and children are not obliged to bring money every Friday.

Presentation on Spiders

On Tuesday, 24 July, children will have another “walk-in” presentation on Spiders.


Reports will be handed out on Friday 27 July.


As from Term 3, Judo will be presented as a new extra mural activity. Parents will receive all information with regards to extra murals during the first week of the new term.

Stationery Suppliers

Deans Stationers shall now provide the stationery packs for Courtney Kids.  Parents shall receive information about the stationery packs as well as order forms for 2019 pre-packed stationery soon.

Entrepreneur’s Day Success

On Wednesday, 20 June, the children In Reception Year, Grades 2, 3 and 5 had their Entrepreneur’s Day. This was an incredible experience for the merchants as well as the buyers. Well done to all the children who participated with such eagerness and enthusiasm. Tons of interesting items were on sale including home-baked goodies, pancakes, doughnuts, pizza as well as home-made trinkets, jewellery and little toys. Congratulations to the following children who made the most profit:

We are very proud of our young entrepreneurs. The next entrepreneur’s Day is on Thursday 16 August for Grades 1, 4 and 6.

“Save-the-Rhino’ Themed Week

The week of 17 July – 24 July 2018, at Courtney House, is dedicated to “Save-the-Rhino”. Presentations, included one by Teacher Jo, will take place at school. Children will be engaged in art projects dedicated to draw awareness to this desperate cause. There will also be exquisite and hand-adorned rhino collectibles for sale (prices ranging between R250 and R450) to assist rhino conservation but also aid local rural communities who make the rhino collectibles as a means of sustaining themselves.

Children will receive order forms whereby they can place their orders for rhino collectibles beforehand. Parents will also be able to purchase hand-crafted rhinos which will all aid conservation and community development.

Extra Murals for Term 3

Extra Mural schedules will be handed out on Monday. Except for ballet, which starts the week of 16 July, all other Extra Mural activities will commence the week of 23 July.

Please take note that we have decided not to continue with “Nutty Scientists” for Term 3.

Ballet Stage Production

The ballet students shall perform in a ballet stage production on Saturday 8 September. There are two performances, at 14:30 and again at 18:30. Janet has provided parents with letters containing all the information needed for this production. She has requested that parents take note of the details and that children do not miss the extra rehearsals which have been scheduled.

Student of the Week

Each week, a child from each class is identified as “Student of the Week” for showing excellence or great progress in various areas. The children are awarded badges at line-up. Congratulations to the children who received awards for “Most Athletically Talented Student”.

Changes to the School Uniform Supplier

Please take note that we are in the process of changing school uniform suppliers. We thank Amy Pienaar, from RP Agencies, and wish her much success for the future.

We shall keep parents informed as to when the new suppliers officially take over.

Study Skills

The College has started with our daily Study Skills lessons which take place every morning from 07:45 to 08:30. We ask parents to ensure that their child is in time for the lesson every morning. This week we have focused on organisational skills and we are positive that these lessons will contribute to an overall positive learning environment.
