Welcome to New Families
A number of new international families have recently joined the Courtney family. We wish them well and hope that their time in South Africa and at the Courtney schools will be memorable and productive.
Tickets for Moonstone Masquerade
Tickets for the stage production will go on sale from Friday 2 November. Tickets can only be purchased from Thelma at the primary school office. Seats are reserved and tickets must be presented at the Atterbury Theatre to gain entrance to the production. Tickets are R 150 each.

Moonstone Masquerade Stage Production for children in Grades 000 – Grade 6 shall be staged at the Atterbury Theatre on the evenings of Friday 7th and Saturday 8th December 2018. A reminder that full day stage rehearsals take place on 5th and 6th December 2018.

School Photograph Order Forms
Parents will receive an order form with information about payment details and how to order the photos that were taken last week.
Mobile Zoo Visit
On Tuesday 6 November, the Mobile Zoo will visit the pre-school. During this visit, children will view and interact with a variety of small animals.
Uniform for Reception Year
A date shall be confirmed whereby the uniform supplier will visit the pre-school for parents to view and purchase uniform for 2019.

For the dress rehearsals as well as performances, boy’s hair is to be neat and out of the face, girl’s hair is to be worn in a ballet bun and tightly secured with no fringes or hair in the face.
Parents are notified that the Atterbury Theatre does not allow patrons to use any form of recording electronics during the productions. Parents may not take their own photos or DVDs during the production, which is why we have professional photographers doing the Stage Photos and DVD.
Dew Drop Photography shall be responsible for the stage production photos which include individual, group and stage photos. Parents are asked to complete the order forms and make the payment of R 200 per child by Friday 23 November 2018.
Timeless Visual Entertainment shall be responsible for the DVD of the stage production. Parents are asked to complete the order form and make the payment of R 300 per DVD ordered by Friday 23 November 2018.
Thank you to those parents who have already made payments. We appreciate the sacrifices you may be making to cover all these extra costs.
Full day stage rehearsals at the Atterbury Theatre take place on Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th December. Transport is provided, for the children, to and from the theatre on these days. Parents are not allowed to watch these rehearsals.
Parents are reminded that children will perform on both evenings and must be available for both performances on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th December. These performances start at 18:30 and will end around 21:30. Children are expected to be dropped off at the theatre by 16:30 and collected once the performance has ended and children have been changed.
Children who are not participating in the stage production, will not have school on Wednesday 5th, Thursday 6th and Friday 7th December 2018.
There is no school for stage production participants on Friday 7th December.

Parent-Teacher Meetings
All teachers will be available on Wednesday 31 October and Wednesday 7 November between 14:30 and 17:00 for parents who would like to schedule short progress feedback meetings to discuss your child’s progress. Appointment times can be scheduled through Thelma at the school office.
Chewing Gum
Parents are reminded that children may not chew chewing gum at school at the primary campus. This is for safety to avoid choking but also that chewing gum is not stuck all over school property.
Student of the Week
Each week, a child from each class is identified as “Student of the Week” for showing excellence or great progress in various areas. The children are awarded badges at line-up. Congratulations to the children who received badges last week for “Most Responsible Student”. This week, the award is for “Most Compassionate and Caring Student”.
Leadership-Adventure Camp 2019 – Deadline Coming Up
Information packs containing details and forms for the leadership-adventure camp for 2019 have been handed out. Parents, who would like their children (Grade 3-6) to attend the camp at Ingwe in Plettenburg Bay and to explore the Knysna area, are requested to kindly fill out and return the forms as well as make the payment as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. The deadline for payment is Friday 2 November 2018. Many parents have already submitted forms and made payment, thank you. Only 50 children can be accommodated on this trip. Extra police security will be arranged to accompany the group through OR Tambo airport on both departure and return. Children, who do not attend camp, will have school as usual during that time.

Year End Reports
All parents of the Checkpoint 2019, IGCSE 2019 and AS/A-Level 2019 groups received their child’s Year End report via e-mail on Friday 26 October. Please contact the college office if you have not received it or if you have any related questions regarding your child’s report.
Checkpoint 2018 Event
Thank you to Teachers Cara and Cyd for organising a great event for the Checkpoint 2018 that was held on Friday. A wonderful time was enjoyed by all the students and teachers. We wish them well as they now enter their IGCSE course starting on Monday.
