Tickets for Moonstone Masquerade
Tickets are selling very quickly, so please purchase your tickets early to avoid disappointment. We look forward to seeing all the parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, family and friends at the event.
Tickets are R 150 each and can only be purchased from Thelma at the primary school office. Seats are reserved and tickets must be presented at the Atterbury Theatre to gain entrance to the production.
Sad Farewell
Some of our families are leaving South Africa to return to their home countries or to move on to their next diplomatic posting. We are sad to say goodbye and extend the very best for their future happiness. We hope they have made some wonderful and memorable memories of South Africa and our lovely school.
School Rule
We remind parents and students alike of our school rule: “We do not hurt others with words or actions”. This rule encompasses all forms of teasing, bullying, poor discipline as well as rude and disruptive behaviour and is to be taken seriously.

Moonstone Masquerade Stage Production for children in Grades 000 – Grade 6 shall be staged at the Atterbury Theatre on the evenings of Friday 7th and Saturday 8th December 2018. A reminder that full day stage rehearsals take place on 5th and 6th December 2018.

School Photograph Order Deadline
The deadline for placing orders and making payments for the school photos is Wednesday 14 November. Parents are asked to ensure that they meet this deadline. Thank you to parents who have already made payments.
Meeting for Parents
Parents of children who are going to Reception Year (Grade 0) in January 2019 are invited to attend an information sharing meeting at the primary school campus on Monday 19 November at 17:00.
Pre-School Prize Giving
There is a prize giving ceremony at Courtney Kids for the pre-school children on Thursday 22 November at 17:30. We look forward to seeing all the families at this event.

Tickets are R 150 each, payable in cash or an EFT into the Concert Account beforehand.
Stage Production Individual and Group Photos shall be taken on Monday 3 December during the school morning. Please ensure your child’s hair is neatly arranged for this day (as requested for the dress rehearsals) and that all performers are at school early on this day.
For the photos, dress rehearsals as well as performances, boy’s hair is to be neat and out of the face, girl’s hair is to be worn in a ballet bun and tightly secured with no fringes or hair in the face.
Parents are notified that the Atterbury Theatre does not allow patrons to use any form of recording electronics during the productions. Parents may not take their own photos or DVDs during the production, which is why we have professional photographers doing the Stage Photos and DVD.
Dew Drop Photography shall be responsible for the stage production photos which include individual, group and stage photos. Parents are asked to complete the order forms and make the payment of R 200 per child by Friday 23 November 2018.
Timeless Visual Entertainment shall be responsible for the DVD of the stage production. Parents are asked to complete the order form and make the payment of R 300 per DVD ordered by Friday 23 November 2018.
Thank you to those parents who have already made payments. We appreciate the sacrifices you may be making to cover all these extra costs.
Full day stage rehearsals at the Atterbury Theatre take place on Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th December. Transport is provided, for the children, to and from the theatre on these days. Parents are not allowed to watch these rehearsals.
Parents are reminded that children will perform on both evenings and must be available for both performances on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th December. These performances start at 18:30 and will end around 21:30. Children are expected to be dropped off at the theatre by 16:30 and collected once the performance has ended and children have been changed.
Children who are not participating in the stage production, will not have school on Wednesday 5th, Thursday 6th and Friday 7th December 2018.
There is no school for stage production participants on Friday 7th December.

Welcome
We welcome Chloe Flaxman, who started as a member of the team on Monday 5 November, currently undergoing in-house training, under the superb guidance of Teacher Anthea.
Final Examinations
Children in Grade 3 to 6 will write their final examination on Monday 12 November. School continues as normal after the examination session.
Meeting for Parents
Parents of new children who are going to Reception Year (Grade 0) or Year 1 (Grade 1) in January 2019 are invited to attend an information sharing meeting at the primary school campus on Monday 19 November at 17:00. This is a meeting predominantly for new families of children who are not currently at Courtney House.
Uniform Supplier
We are aware of some issues pertaining to the new uniform supplier and orders placed. Please be patient as we try to resolve the issue. We do, however, apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Piano Concert
Some of our students performed in a musical concert at The Brooklyn Theatre on Saturday 10 November at 11:00. The following students are acknowledged: Adriel and Evandro Carvalho; Atisa D’abdon; Sazi Eccles; Beatrix Grignon; Vedansh Morya and Fikun Olaifa. We thank Teacher Polina for organising this.
Little Kickers Tournament
We congratulate the following three students who participated in a soccer tournament on Saturday 10 November, as arranged by Little Kickers: Eshan Etukudu; Blessing Akalenaga and Michael Mahembe. Thank you to Teacher Natasha for attending and supporting our young players.
Stationery Orders for 2019
Parents are reminded to get their orders in for the stationery packs for 2019. These orders can be placed directly through Deans Stationers so that all stationery requirements are sorted out for your child’s new academic year. Please get these orders completed by no later than Friday 16 November. Stationery packs shall be delivered to the school on Tuesday 4 December so that parents can collect these when they collect their child’s final academic report.
Extra Mural Activities
Extra murals continue until Friday 30 November.
Student of the Week
Each week, a child from each class is identified as “Student of the Week” for showing excellence or great progress in various areas. The children are awarded badges at line-up. Congratulations to the children who received badges last week for “Most Progress in Physical Education/Y-Sports”. This week, the award is for “Top Achiever in Mathematics”.
Leadership-Adventure Camp 2019
Many parents have already submitted forms and made payment, thank you. There are still a few places left. Extra police security will be arranged to accompany the group through OR Tambo airport on both departure and return. Children, who do not attend camp, will have school as usual during that time. Thank you to parents who have already made payments.

IGCSE Educational Outing
The IGCSE 2019 group, together with Teachers Cyd, CJ, Estelle, Mary and Raphael, had a wonderful time on Thursday 8 November as they went to Brooklyn Mall to view the movie ‘The Hate You Give’. This movie opens up relevant conversations about teenage life as well as racism, more specifically. Thank you to Teacher Cyd for organising the outing – all involved had a brilliant time.
