General News – applies to all three phases
International Day – Saturday, 14 September 2019
Tickets for International Day are now available from the school offices. Tickets must be purchased beforehand in order to attend the event.
All children and students have received information leaflets about the event. Please consult the information included and purchase your family tickets (R 350 per family) from the school offices. These tickets serve as entrance to the event so they must be brought along on the day. There will be a Lucky Draw for a hamper on the day, from ticket numbers displayed on your tickets.
Families who wish to showcase their country of origin or nationality are asked to complete the attached slip and return this to the school offices as soon as possible. The closing date for showcase entries is Wednesday 28 August. Families who showcase their countries may not have a market sale too.
Individuals who wish to have a ‘market sale’ on the day can purchase a space for R 400. This must also be done through the school office.
We look forward to seeing everyone at this family event. Families are welcome to dress up in their National Costumes and Cultural Attire on the day.
Requests for Special Leave during Term Time
Courtney Management has been receiving an increased number of requests for children to be absent from school (during official school terms) for holiday and travel purposes. Where we do understand that in certain circumstances this is unavoidable, we would prefer that parents make travel arrangements for holidays within the allocated holiday sessions. This is especially pertinent for students who are in Grade 3 and above. For some families, these requests are happening regularly which is unacceptable. School term dates are provided well in advance.
National Dress on National Days
We remind all our families that children may come to school wearing their country’s traditional clothing on the National Day or Independence Day of their country.

On Thursday, 21 August, Reptile Citi visited the primary campus for an educational presentation of spiders, insects, creepy-crawlies and reptiles. The show was entitled ‘Crazy Critters’ and Dane and his team kept the children thoroughly entertained.
The display consisted of a King Cobra, two 100-pacer Thailand Mocassin snakes, a Corn snake, a Ball Python, a Boa, a Monitor Lizard, a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach, an alligator as well as a few Tarantulas and a Goliath Bird Eating Spider. The children were also given an opportunity to touch and feel some of the reptiles.
