Courtney College is situated on the corner of Mackie and Florence Ribeiro Dr / Queen Wilhelmina Ave, Pretoria, South Africa. The College offers the perfect setting for our CheckPoint (Year 7 and 8), IGCSE (Year 9 and 10) and A/AS Level (Year 11, 12 and Post Matric) students to learn.
The double story building accommodates not only classrooms, but also tut rooms, labs, student study areas and administrative offices.
Our CheckPoint Classrooms, located on the first floor accommodate a maximum of 20 students each. The different specialist teachers present lessons in the Grade 7 and 8 base classrooms ensuring that our younger students’ lessons begin timeously. Computer and Science practical classes, however, take place in the Computer and Science Labs. Cubicles in the Grade 7 classroom and Lockers in the Grade 8 classroom, provide a place for each student to store their belongings.
The IGCSE and A/AS Level students attend lessons in the different specialist classrooms. These classrooms, located on the ground and first floors accommodate between 16 and 20 students each. Hour lessons take place through-out the morning with students attending classes as specified on their timetables.
In addition, there are a number of tut rooms, accommodating up to 10 students each, where teachers present lessons to smaller groups through-out the day.
During the afternoons, our senior students attend two hour practical classes in the fully equipped science lab.
The IGCSE and A/AS Level students have access to a Student Centre where they can relax during breaks. Work tops and a special study room provide a place where our senior students can study. All students can purchase a range of snacks and beverages from the vending machine or use the facilities in the student kitchen to heat food. Picnic benches located around the school allow students an opportunity to enjoy the sun during breaks and our more active students may join the soccer matches, played in the park.
